Le Chêne Vert is a traditional Charentaise house, built in 1802. Originally a farm house, it has been lovingly restored
and has been awarded 3 stars by Thomas Cook.
Whether you are passing by and need a break, (we are close to the A10 Paris/Bordeaux autoroute)
or wish to stay longer and take in the atmosphere of our region, you will be made very welcome.
Surrounded by vineyards and woodland, the setting is peaceful and tranquil,
but only a short distance from the village with it's shops, bar and a restaurant.
The quiet roads, vineyard lanes and woodland paths are perfect for a gentle stroll. If you fancy a longer walk it is 45 minutes
to the 12th century Abbaye de Fontdouce. The area is excellent for cycling and if you don't wish to bring your own, bikes can be hired locally.
Cognac, with it's many distilleries, and the Romanesque town of Saintes are only a short drive away.
There are four golf courses in the area and lots of opportunity for fishing in the plentiful rivers.
In less than an hour you can be at the sandy beaches of the Gironde estuary.
Evening dinner is prepared using fresh local produce. Coeliac (celiac), gluten-free and vegetarian meals
are prepared on request.
